Amy Bortnick, RD, is a food and nutrition expert based in Gaithersburg, MD. Amy is the Special Projects Coordinator for the University of Maryland’s Food Supplement Nutrition Education Program (FSNE). FSNE provides free services and support to underserved communities, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance eligible individuals and families. FSNE programs take place in public schools, literacy centers, local food banks, soup kitchens, WIC offices, senior centers, community centers, neighborhood groups, and homeless shelters.
At FSNE, Amy implements the curriculum for both youth and adults. She also leads FSNE’s technology outreach program and manages its internship project. Amy enjoys mentoring students and future dietitians and often provides trainings and workshops to upcoming professionals.
Amy graduated from the University of Maryland, with honors, with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. Amy also completed her postgraduate dietetic internship at the University of Maryland.
Amy enjoys yoga and volunteers at a yoga studio in Rockville, MD. She is also an avid runner, completing over 5 half marathons and 2 full marathons, and even qualified for the prestigious Boston Marathon.
